In May 1996 the Gayteens Resources site was established as the first online gay youth site in the UK and Internationally. The vision by the founder Dean Powell was for the content to be built by gayteens and not by adults. However, the membership in the thousands were very reluctant to contribute to the major articles and opted for the forums to ask questions or to reply to posts made by other members.  Monitoring by staff thanks to the work and effort of Jamie aka Carryonken and others kept the forums clean.

In recent months the site traffic was out growing the shared server resources and the scripting software database was maximised and had became out of date with the introductory of PHP5. We were faced with starting again and recovering as much content as we could from November 2009.

The forum traffic slowly dropped and maybe was a result of members having difficulties with access and sluggish server. Hopefully these problems will iron out as our new server software clicks in.
